Fresh Craft Beer Stats

Alright – are you sitting down? Sitting down with a fresh craft brew is even better…

barrels of lovely American Craft Beer

Here are some fresh stats from the 2010 Great American Beer Festival program, courtesy of the Brewers Association.

  • In 2009 9,115,635 barrels of craft beer was produced in the US of A

Check out their site for accurate and up to date information on the craft beer scene.

As well – the companion site – CraftBeer.com – is a great resource on all things craft beer. From beer & food to recipes to road trips to news. It’s gorgeous, well done and easily navigable.

Why? Because like Julia says, American craft beer is full of substance and soul.

Amen, sister.

Craft Beer is Growing – Mid Year Update ala BA

The Brewers Association posted their Mid Year Report for Craft Brewers a short while back. Perhaps you’ve already read it. If you have not, here’s your opportunity.

Get a quality beer and read up.

Happy Beer People

My happy photo of the day

Ha! Why do these photos not surprise me??!!

Smart, engaged, happy, fun loving, sense of humor about themselves, beer & the world. It’s what makes my day!

What does your company photo look like?

3 C's

3 C’s of Craft Beer, ala – one of my favorites (sharp, in the know, professional, etc.) – Julia. I’ll extrapolate the 3 C’s with some of my own meanings.

Complement – what goes well together?

Contrast – what really strikes a chord being different?

Cut – what can help make a pathway through (perhaps a hoppy beer through greasy foods)?

Sure – we could wheel of more starts-with-a-C words. How about clarity, color, content, context, carbonation, commodity, craft cleanliness, community, commitment.

Any others you care to share?

Listen To Your Mother

Grand Teton Lost Continent. Mmmmmmmm!

Julia’s right, as usual.

The Mother Of All Beer Weeks is coming right up – in time for you to plan, educate and celebrate.

Be sure to sign your brewery up so everyone can see what’s going on, what they should anticipate from you for that week and then they can plan accordingly.

This is a HUGE OPPORTUNITY (almost as big as developing the female beer consumer). If you pass it up, you miss the boat. In a big way.

Get on board.

Thanks Mom.

Toasty Brewer

Julia Herz (l) BA & Larry at the Craft Brewers Conference

I’ll take the opportunity today to highlight My Fine Husband, Larry Chase. He’s a professional brewer, is truly passionate about quality clean tasty beer and I love him for it (among other reasons).

The Brewers Association offers many benefits – among them featuring various members of the brewing community on site. Like here.

Good man, good beer, good dogs (see the picture). Good life.

Lucky me.

Windy's Good

streets of Chicago

streets of Chicago

Here I am  – in the Windy City – otherwise known as Chicago, Illinois, USA. Why?

The Craft Brewers Conference and Brew Expo happens Wednesday night through Saturday pm with the cherry on top being the World Beer Cup awards announced at the Gala Saturday night.

Already ran across – or rather intersected on the sidewalk – Bob Pease, Chris Pryor, (saw Paul Gatza) as well as the fabulous Simon and Roger, Alex, Stephen….who else? Well, there will be lots of opportunity to see all the fine folk of the brewing community.

There will be some we’ll miss – Jennifer, Rebecca, Rebecca (yes, two different ones), Brian, Rhonda, and others.

So I best get some good sleep tonight as the Briess malt plant tour leaves the city at 630 am, returns around 1030 tomorrow night.

Tough job, I know….

Toasting

Me & my sister Holly- She's toastworthy!!

Me & my sister Holly- She's toastworthy!!

Hats off to Jill and the Brewers Association for their new segment “A Toast To…”

It’s been fun reading about people I know and have yet to meet – she even decided to use my submission. Big thanks Jill!

Who is toastworthy to you?

It’s a good time to join the BA and take advantage of this feature as well as all the fabulous benefits they offer anyone who supports the beer community at large.

Yet Another Benefit

The Brewers Association is, in my humble opinion, a very worthwhile organization to belong to. They’re constantly looking at ways to advance beer, education, enlightenment and quality tasty beer.

They just rolled out another terrific component – It’s called “CraftBeer.com” and it’s available to all members.

They already have a plethora of reasons to support the greater cause through a variety of membership types and levels. As with any group you believe in, it’s very important that you extend that belief to monetary support.

No they didn’t ask me to post this. It’s simply something I feel strongly enough about to crow on periodically.

Take a look at the homepage, dig around, then choose your membership.

If you want high quality beer available at reasonable prices. If you want to support the economic base that brewers provide to your communities and to our country. If you want affordable luxury in your glass.

The time is now to join. You can have something to say about it when you’re fully engaged in it. Support is one form of engagement.

Consider it a double whammy present - to your little self  and to the beer community as a whole.

Cheers!
